For big-brand boutiques – Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Follow the well-heeled set down this 2km boulevard, which stretches from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. You’ll pass the city’s premier fashion houses, including Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Prada, amid smaller (but truly no less bank-breaking) boutiques.

For high-society coffee – Café de Flore. If walls could talk... Famous as a literary and artistic hotspot from the 1920s onwards, legends like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld have spent long hours at Café de Flore. It's one of the oldest coffee houses in Paris and, by all accounts, an excellent spot to watch Paris go by.

For art and culture – Fondation Louis Vuitton. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, Fondation Louis Vuitton runs a large-scale initiative to support heritage, art and culture. Pioneered by Bernard Arnault, LVMH's president, this is an exciting space for all things modern and contemporary art and fashion in the Porte Dauphine area.
